Music of the Spheres has been designed to be aesthetically fun, friendly and easy to approach. The shape takes inspiration from an artist palette, where instead of mixing paints, the user is creating colourful visuals and sounds. The environment allows for people of all ages and sizes to sit, kneel or stand near the interactive surface. The cushioned surface also allows children to lie close to the interactive surface.

The prototype system of Music of the Spheres has already allowed for interesting and stimulating user experiences to emerge. For example, a child was very surprised when creating a flower and sounds on the screen. This action was followed by a discussion between the child and her mother as to how now ‘things’ such as flowers are created on an everyday basis. This time children was teachin an adult. This interaction promotes the play environment as being educational and fun at the same time.

Thursday 19 November was a big day for us. Our first public presentation with the Music of the Spheres. The system was delivered to the Kindergarten Museum Helsinki and in evening people had an change to play with the system. Users reactions were delightful and from our point of view first feed back was success. We had an change to see children and all ages of adults being really enthusiastic towards the content and the physical shape of the design. Seems like good combination of media and industrial design. This is now good step for us to finish the sounds, visuals, usability and concept and continue our experiments as we now have working platform put together.
